<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You make them, your kids eat them, and an hour later, they’re already asking for something else.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This banana oat protein bake is different.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It’s soft, naturally sweet, and full of simple ingredients—but it also has enough protein to actually <em>hold everyone over</em>. Which, if you’re in the middle of a homeschool day, matters more than anything.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It’s become one of those recipes I come back to again and again because it’s easy, filling, and my kids genuinely enjoy it.</p>

<li>1 cup cottage cheese, blended until smooth</li>



<li>1 egg</li>



<li>56 grams egg whites</li>



<li>2 ripe bananas, mashed</li>



<li>1 teaspoon cinnamon</li>



<li>1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice</li>



<li>1 teaspoon baking powder</li>



<li>1/2 teaspoon baking soda</li>



<li>1/4 cup monk fruit sweetener (or honey/maple syrup to taste)</li>



<li>drizzle of honey</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Instructions</h3>



<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li>Preheat oven to 350°F and grease or line an 8&#215;8 baking dish.</li>



<li>If you prefer a smoother texture, blend the oats into a flour first (optional).</li>



<li>In a large bowl, mix together the mashed bananas, blended cottage cheese, egg, egg whites, and sweetener.</li>



<li>Add in the oats, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir until fully combined.</li>



<li>Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish and spread evenly, then drizzle with honey.</li>



<li>Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until set in the center and lightly golden on top.</li>



<li>Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The first time I made this I tried adding fresh strawberries as a mix-in into the ice cream after being blended. This made the ice cream too watery for my liking. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With these ingredients, you can get as creative as you want and omit what you don&#8217;t find useful. I like adding the powdered peanut butter for an extra blast of flavor, it compliments the egg nog flavor really well.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I chose to use my <a href="https://amzn.to/3D0jCjJ" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">new favorite protein powder in vanilla bean</a>. Feel free to use your favorite vanilla protein powder or a vanilla protein shake!</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Cottage cheese is a tasteless main base for this creamy holiday treat and the egg whites add extra protein!</p>

This recipe is quite similar but has a different nutritional profile!</p>

<p class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph" style="font-style:normal;font-weight:700">That&#8217;s right only 200 calories and 30 grams of protein per serving, which is equal to about 1 cup of chicken salad!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Where does the protein come from?</h3>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Cottage cheese takes the place of mayonnaise in this non-traditional chicken salad to lower the calorie content and increase the grams of protein! About 6 grams of the protein per serving comes from the cottage cheese. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The remaining protein comes from the chicken, at 24 grams per serving.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To keep this chicken salad low-calorie use chicken breast or tenderloins. You can purchase raw chicken and grill it for a delicious charred flavoring or use ready-to-eat rotisserie chicken for full flavor and ease. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To keep the recipe as time-friendly as possible, I kept the cottage cheese as whole curds, but blending it is an equally fine option depending on the texture you prefer!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A good portion of the protein content comes from egg whites, which are tasteless in the smoothie, providing about 7g of protein.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Are you skeptical about the egg whites? I was, too, at first. Just try it with one Tbsp to start. If you are all-in on the egg whites, then feel free to add more for even additional protein.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you are looking to increase your healthy fat intake, I recommend adding some avocado, which will also enhance the creaminess.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For a healthy dose of greens, include a handful of spinach!</p>
