Sometimes we need to be reminded that taking the alternative path of homeschooling allows for a more scenic route down the path of education. This is a beautiful realization when you feel stuck with the day-to-day.

On those rough days maybe you need to scratch the lesson plans and head to a museum for a field trip or take a nature scavenger hunt walk.

Ways to use these encouraging notecards for homeschool moms:

  • Print on cardstock and hang in your homeschool space
  • Print and frame in a 4×6 frame in the areas where you need the most encouragement
  • Gift to a fellow homeschool mama (print on pretty cardstock and wrap with ribbon)
  • Give to other moms in your homeschool community/co-op

Slow down. It’s so simple but sometimes it’s all we need. A walk alone, a shower, or even a snack can change our perspective and our mood. This is also true for our littles as well.

We can often get stuck in a cycle of overstimulation, frustration, anger, and so on. Taking a step back can help us re-align where we need to be. The beauty of homeschooling is you can take as long of a break as needed. Pick up where you left off and know that it’s all going to be ok.

Remember your why for choosing to homeschool and keep that front and center. One of my whys stems from my belief in Jesus. I want that to be the primary focus of our time together as a family and always be tied to our school subjects. Public school doesn’t allow for this so I have to remind myself of this often!

With all the comparisons this life brings, hello social media, it’s easy to get in the habit of comparing yourself to other homeschool mamas. Or other families in general. Just don’t do it.

That old saying reigns true, comparison is the thief of joy.

When comparisons get the best of you, try writing down all you are grateful for in that moment. Hot coffee, clean clothes, a fridge with food to cook, and your favorite book to read.

This can be true for parenting as well. We can feel unqualified to raise and teach these kids, that we can’t give them what other moms seem to offer their kids. But there is no greater mama on this planet for your kids than you!

One of my favorite C.S. Lewis quotes. Children often get labeled as distractions and take the back seat to our lives. However they are children of God and deserve the time, attention, and care that they are worth!

Homeschooling your children puts them at the table with you. Daily life is full of valuable lessons.

Your children are not distracting you from important work, the peace comes in realizing they are the most important work.
