Affordable And Easy To Achieve Seasonal Home Décor

Hey there! If you love decorating for the seasons but don’t have the budget for constantly buying new home décor then this post is for you! I had so much fun making these affordable and easy to achieve seasonal décor items for my home, but I have a secret.

I used scrapbook paper!

That’s’ right, good ol less that $1 pieces of scrapbook paper!

I have a few tips listed out below but I have used scrapbook paper in the past for picture frame mats and they look great.

This time around I used scrapbook paper in a few different ways to add a seasonal pop of décor to my home!

Affordable and easy to achieve seasonal home décor ideas using scrapbook paper:

Frame it

This one is pretty self explanatory but you could easily create seasonal home décor by simply framing the printed scrapbook paper.

For Spring, I love bunny and floral prints but there are so many to choose from which allows you to fully customize to your style.

During Christmas I plan to use this adorable tree print and classic plaid.

To frame this paper, you need to disassemble your picture frame then carefully lay out the glass onto the edge of your paper and lightly trace the edges.

Remove the glass and cut along the traced line.

When assembling the frame back together simply place the paper where you would normally put a picture.

I actually paint washed the wood frame I found at the thrift store to get a muted color to match the floral.

Use on a framed wooded sign

This one is probably my favorite, I love how it turned out!

I painted the background of my sign first so it was a nice neutral color and to prevent any of the print or coloring to show through my paper.

Similar to the picture frame, you need to cut the paper to fit your sign appropriately.

I suggest measuring or using plain white paper as your template to cut out your scrapbook paper.

The goal is to get your paper to fit nice and snug in the framed sign without any background showing.

Once you cut your paper to size, you need to secure it to the back of the frame. Use either glue or a temporary option like double sided tape or regular tape (folded over itself).

Due to the size of my sign I had to cut two different pieces to get the paper to fully cover, so I do have a little seam, but it’s practically invisible once displayed with other décor around.

I really love how this turned out. Can you believe that’s a clearence section sign and .69 cent scrapbook paper?

Picture Mats

Say you have a large frame with no existing mat or maybe you thrifted an awesome frame with no mat but you would like one, try scrapbook paper!

If you are wanting a neutral year round option then try a tan or ivory printed paper. I found a very neutral burlap print scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby that looks amazing in a natural wood frame!

To get the scrapbook paper to act as a mat all you have to do is cut the paper to fit your frame! Depending on the size of your frame you may need more than one piece of paper.

You will essentially be placing your picture on top of the scrapbook paper to give the illusion it is a mat around the picture.

Once you get the scrapbook paper cut to size, and pieces put together if you need more that one, take your picture or print and place it in the center.

You may need to turn the frame over to test out the exact location for a centered look.

Once you have the picture in place, use a pencil to mark on the corners of the print. Then take a small piece of tape or double-sided tape, put on the back of the picture, flip over and put in place using your pencil mark guides.

Once the picture is in place you can assemble the frame back together.

Easy to achieve and fully custom to you and your style!

This idea would look great seasonally as well! Try holiday printed scrapbook paper behind family photos to add that pop of color for the season!

Use like wrapping paper on small objects

Try wrapping the paper onto small books or boxes to give some dimension while decorating.
