Easy Pressure Cooker Pulled Pork
Looking for a way to cook up some pork butt/shoulder? Or maybe you are in the mood for some tacos or nachos? This easy pressure cooker pulled pork recipe is for you!
It comes out so flavorful, tender, and ready to eat!

Some of my favorite ways to use this delicious pressure cooker pulled pork
- nachos
- BBQ pulled pork pizza
- tacos
- crisped up with sweet potatoes and topped with fried eggs for breakfast

This pressure cooker recipe is so easy, the pressure cooker does all the work for you!
If you are starting with a large slab of pork you will need to cut that down into about .5 lb chunks to make cooking easier, that’s about as hard as it gets!

Once your pieces are cut, place them in the pressure cooker on the sear/sautee setting and sautee both sides for about 5 minutes until they are nice and browned. Then, add your spices and broth.
Lock the elid in place and turn the pressure valve to the closed position. Select the steak/meat setting and change time to 45 minutes.

Easy Pressure Cooker Pulled Pork
Equipment
- 1 Pressure Cooker InstaPot or the like
- 1 Tongs
Ingredients
- 3 lbs Pork Shoulder or Butt
- 2 cups chicken or bone broth
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp cayenne pepper
Instructions
- turn on pressure cooker to sear/sautee setting
- cut your pork into about .5 lb pieces
- place pieces evenly spread into the pressure cooker and allow to sear for 5 or so minutes to brown the bottom
- flip them over using tongs or a fork and sear again for 5 minutes
- as they are searing on the second side being adding your spices to the pot
- once your spices are added to the pot and both sides are seared, add the broth to the pot
- on the pressure cooker, cancel the current saute setting. Place the lid on, lock in place, and move your pressure valve to the closed position
- change your pressure cooker setting to "meat" and set cook time to 45 minutes
- once the cook time is completed carefully release the pressure valve – if you wait 5 to 10 minutes after the cook time is done there will be less pressure to release.
- remove pork pieces with tongs and place them in a large glass tupperware or serving tray. Easily shred with the tongs or two forks!
- For best results add the shredded pork to an oiled griddle or cast iron skillet on med-high heat to get it nice and crispy! About 5 minutes on each side.
- serve with tortillas for taco night or try it on pizza!
Notes
The finished result is so easy to shred that I simply use my tongs to push it down and move it apart!

Be sure to close your pressure valve before cooking and carefully release it when the cook time is complete!
I can be a bit timid of the pressure valve so I have noticed that waiting 5-10 minutes after the cooking is complete there is less pressure to release and it’s not as “scary.” I also always use a towel to release the valve as the steam is very hot!
In my opinion, the best way to enjoy this pressure cooker pulled pork is to crisp it up in a pan or on the griddle.
As I prepare the meal with the pulled pork, I heat up my stovetop griddle to medium-high and add some oil. I then place the pulled pork on the griddle and let it crisp up for about 5 minutes on each side before serving.
I do this before plating for tacos and before building nachos!
Those crispy ends are just so good! I will always Rejoice About that!
Here it is on some BBQ pulled pork sourdough pizza!
