DIY Easter Baskets With A Personal Touch For Under $10

Hey There!
Make this Easter special for your loved ones with a personal touch that won’t break the bank. With this easy DIY guide, you’ll be able to create unique, one-of-a-kind Easter baskets that are sure to delight kids and adults alike – all for under $10!
Spring is on the Horizon, which means Easter is soon to be here. I love the feeling of a sunny Spring day watching the landscape transform from dead and dry to bright and airy! How about you?
Speaking of Easter, do you love the look of personalized Easter baskets but can’t stomach spending close to $30 each on them? Me either!
Especially if you have multiple kids – that would be almost $100 for me!
This year, instead of choosing store-bought baskets for my children, I decided to make DIY Easter baskets with a personal touch while keeping the cost low.
I wanted to share my process with you as it was a simple and affordable way to make these baskets.
The end results are adorable!
Let’s start
First up is to shop your house – my favorite thing to do! Look around your kitchen, garage, bathroom, etc. to see if you can find these items without purchasing anything.
That would make these DIY Easter baskets practically FREE!

I listed the supplies out below, but the first step is to find some baskets.
I tried this with a plastic organizer bin and a metal wire basket, both from Dollar Tree, and it turned out great!
Once you have the baskets, you need to gather some flour sack towels or tea towels.
Once you have your basket and your fabric ready, lay the towel in the basket to get the desired look you want.
Ideally, you want some of the fabric to hang over the front to be visible, this is where you will be painting.

I placed a piece of tape on the fabric as a guide to paint below.
Once you know the area you want your personalization, take the fabric out of the basket and lay just the area you will be painting down on a flat surface. Preferably on some scrap paper to avoid paint bleed through.
Let’s paint

Next, get your paint colors ready! If you have stencils handy, this would be a great opportunity to use them. I did not, so I decided to freehand it!
I chose to write out the full name for my son and the first initial for my daughter, but this is the part where you can get creative!
Try a monogram or if you are super artistic try some flowers or leaves for springtime.
Once your towel is dry and ready, place it into the basket – and that’s it!
It is so simple.

Let’s Get Creative
If you want to add something extra, tie on a cluster of ribbon to the basket in Springtime colors or your kid’s favorite colors.
You can get really creative here with ribbon and fabric colors. Find some items that match your style preferences or your kids’ current favorites.

If painting isn’t in your capacity at the moment, try these baskets with Springtime printed fabric instead – no painting needed!
I found these lovely seasonal pieces of fabric in the clearance section at Hobby Lobby for $3!
I simply laid the fabric in my baskets to measure and cut off the excess. Added some ribbon and done!

One of my favorite aspects of this DIY, minus the low cost and simplicity, is that once Easter is over you can fold up the towel or fabric and store it away.
The basket can then find its purpose elsewhere in your house for the rest of the year!
Instead of storing a special basket away to only use one time a year, you have a multi-purpose basket and a towel that is much easier to store away!
Let me know in the comments if you decide to try this out!

If you were able to find these items around your house, then you made these adorable DIY Easter baskets for practically $0!
If you bought these items from the thrift store or Dollar Tree, let me know if you were able to do so for under $10.
Either way, making these one-of-a-kind Easter baskets for such a low price is something to Rejoice About!
Here are some current (February 2024) basket options at the Dollar Tree that would work great for this!

Supplies needed:
- Basket of some kind ~$2 (shop your house or check the local thrift store. The Dollar Tree also has many storage and organizational baskets that will work just great)
- Tea towels or fabric ~$3 (again shop your house and use what you already have, or you can buy a pack from Walmart in the kitchen section or these)
- Paint ~$1 in the color of your choosing. In my opinion, Walmart and Hobby Lobby have the best selection of acrylic craft paint in a large variety of colors
- Paintbrushes ~ $1 You can buy a multi-pack at Hobby Lobby for less than $5! Or try these out
- *Optional* Ribbon ~ $1 you can find multi-packs in the fabric department of Hobby Lobby, but check the sale aisles first! Thrift stores often have a craft section with ribbon as well
- *Optional* Stencils ~ this will give you options on font/style and some guidance
